A Wedding Gown for Gina’s Second Wedding

A Wedding Gown for Gina’s Second Wedding

“So, do you think it’s okay for me to wear white?” Gina asked Kira.

“You mean because this is your second wedding?”

“My second wedding to the same man.”

“You’re not the only woman who has remarried her husband. I know a couple of women who have and they’re very happy. They realized that they were meant to be with their husbands.”

“I’m sure Matt’s parents are surprised and very disappointed that he’s marrying me again.”

“They were surprised, yes, but it’s Matt’s decision.”

“What about Joel?”

“Joel wants Matt to do whatever makes him happy.”

“I’m sure Melania is convinced that Matt’s making a big mistake.”

“Do you really care what Mel thinks?”

“Frankly no. I know she’s your niece, Kira, but I can’t stand her. And she can’t stand me. I think Tanner could have done better.”

“Let’s not go there, Gina.”

“Sorry. What do you really think about this dress?”

“I think it looks great on you. How do you feel about it?”

“I really like it. It looks vintage which I like. And I think I will wear my hair up instead of down.”

“Yes, I think you should wear your hair up and the styles that I think would suit you are the Modern Curly French Roll, Braided Bun, Formal Tuck and Roll Bun, Quick Up do with Braided Knots, the Quick Neat Classic Bun or even the Low Bohemian Bun Hairstyle.”

“Yes, any one of those hair-dos would work for me.”

“And as far as jewelry, all you need are a pair of pearl earrings.”

“I have a pair of pearl teardrop earrings.”

“Those would work.”

“Thanks, Kira. I’ll buy this dress.”

“Do you have shoes you could wear with it?”

“Yes, I do. I bought them a couple of weeks ago. They’re perfect for this dress.”

“So, you’re all set then.”

“Yes, I am.”

“I bet Cam is very excited about the wedding.”

“Yes, he is. He was even more excited when Matt and I told him that he was going to be our pageboy.”

Kira laughed. “He’s going look so cute in his outfit.”

Gina smiled. “Yes, he is.”

“Tanner and Mel are going to babysit Matt for Joel and me.”

“Good. Thank you for agreeing to be my Matron of Honor, Kira.”

“You’re welcome.”

“I want you to know that I didn’t ask you to be because Joel is Matt’s best man. I asked you because you’re my friend.”

“I know.”

“All right, I’m going to tell Magda that I will want the dress.” Gina went back into the changing room to change. She emerged a couple of minutes later carrying the dress. She paid for it and booked dress fittings sessions. When she joined, Kira, she said, “Well, we’ve found a dress for me. Now, let’s find one for you.”

They looked around but Kira didn’t see anything she wanted. So they went to another bridal shop where Kira found a dress she really liked. It was a Dusty Rose colored Knee-Length Chiffon Lace Mother of the Bride Dress With Beading and a matching jacket. She tried the dress and jacket on and they fitted her perfectly. Gina bought them. They left the bridal shop and went to Yorkdale to buy shoes that would go with the outfit.

After some browsing, Kira found the perfect pair of shoes to wear with her wedding outfit. Gina paid for the shoes and then, they Yorkdale and went for lunch at Moxie’s on Yonge Street. It was Kira’s treat since Gina had paid for her outfit and shoes.

When they were in the underground parking lot, Kira as Gina put the bags in the trunk, asked, “Is your father going to give you away this time?”

Gina closed the trunk and turned to face Kira. “I didn’t ask him to give me away.”

“Does he know about the wedding?”

“I’m sure he does. I told my mother. I’m sure she told him.”

“Are you going to ask him to give you away?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Why not? He’s your father.”

“Yes, my father but he has never been one to me.”

“I know that you and he have issues but he did give you away the last time.”

“Well, if he wanted to do so this time, he could have said so.”

“Maybe he’s waiting for you to ask him.”

“I didn’t have to ask him the last time.”

“Maybe this time you do.”

“I don’t know if I want him to, Kira. We’ve never had much of a relationship.”

“Maybe it’s time you did. I think you should ask him.”

“And what if he refuses?”

“I can’t imagine that he would do that but if he does, at least he can’t say that you didn’t ask him.”

“I’ll think about it.”

“And I’ll pray about it.”

Gina turned and walked around to the driver’s side of the car. Soon, they were on their way to Kira’s and Joel’s place where they spent the rest of the afternoon with Matt, Cam, Joel and baby Matt.
