Don’t Be Anxious, Just Pray!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus – Philippians 4:6, 7, NKJV).

I have found out firsthand that Paul’s advice not to be anxious and worry about things but to go to God in prayer. Why worry about situations which you don’t have any control over when you can go to the God Almighty? Although He already knows what is going on, go to Him and pour out your heart to Him, tell Him what you need and then, thank Him. Always praise and thank God when you pray. Just don’t ask for things.

When you go to God with your prayer requests you have the assurance that, “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (verse 7). God’s peace isn’t dependent on the circumstances. It is there in the midst of pain, trials, troubles, etc. Paul experienced it when he was in prison. I experienced it after I lost my son.

There was an occasion, when I went to God in prayer and although I was in pain, I praised Him through my tears. In praising Him He lovingly replaced my pain with His marvelous peace. I will always be grateful and thankful to Him for being there in the darkest moments in my life and for comforting me with His love, grace and peace. I encourage you to let go of your anxiety, worry, etc. and let God pour out His love upon you and fill you with His peace.
